FROM YOUR VIDEO TO ITS COVER
How to Use the Roblox Thumbnail Creator
Describe the moment
Tell us what happens in your video: a last-second obby jump, a hidden room or a surprising pet trade. Name the main character, the setting and the emotion. You can also start with an idea from the gallery.
Add your own details
Upload your avatar or a screenshot if you want a visual reference. Add a short headline, choose 16:9 for a regular video or 9:16 for a vertical composition, then select your size before generating.
Review and download
Allow about two minutes. Check the face, text and scene against your actual video before downloading. Free downloads include a watermark; the creator pack unlocks 2K, 4K and downloads without a watermark.
GIVE VIEWERS A REASON TO CLICK
Make the moment easy to read.
One avatar. One clear story. A thumbnail that still makes sense on a phone.
Create your thumbnail ↑What is a Roblox thumbnail creator?
A Roblox thumbnail creator helps you turn a video idea into the image viewers see before they press play on YouTube. Thumbrix uses your description and an optional reference image to compose a cover with blocky characters, a clear focal point and a short headline.
Start with the moment that makes your video interesting. “Roblox gameplay” gives the generator very little direction. “My teal-hoodie avatar is one jump away from finishing a lava obby, looking shocked as the platform breaks” describes a scene viewers can understand.
Thumbnail ideas by video genre
Obby challenges: show the obstacle and the decision together. Put the avatar close to a dangerous jump, a final checkpoint or an unexpected trap. Use a headline such as “ONE TRY” only when that challenge actually happens in your video.
Brookhaven secrets and roleplay: make the discovery visible. A hidden doorway, an unexpected neighbor or a mysterious delivery gives the viewer a concrete question. Keep one character in the foreground and enough of the neighborhood in view to establish the setting. A reference screenshot can help anchor the composition to the location you explored.
Adopt Me and pet videos: let the pet carry the image. For a trading video, place the two sides of the trade where viewers can compare them at a glance. For an egg reveal, use the character’s reaction and a single hatchling as the focal point. Avoid inventing trade values or rewards that your video does not support.
Tycoon and simulator progress: use a before-and-after composition. A small starter building beside the finished mansion, or a beginner avatar beside an upgraded outfit, communicates progress without a paragraph of text. Keep the camera angle and subject consistent so the difference is immediately visible.
Updates and first looks: feature the thing that changed. Show the new map entrance, vehicle or boss as the largest object, then add the avatar’s reaction. Include a screenshot when accuracy matters; an AI-generated scene may invent details that are not present in the real update.
Make a thumbnail that fits your video
Choose 16:9 for a landscape video cover. The free 1080p option exports at 1920 × 1080 for this shape. This is an export size, not a promise that every image was generated natively at that resolution. Paid creators can select 2K or 4K before generation; the available download dimensions are shown with the completed result. Our YouTube thumbnail size guide explains the platform’s current recommendations and upload limits.
Keep the key face and headline away from the edges. YouTube can show a duration label over the lower-right corner, so place essential information elsewhere. Before uploading, view the result at a small size on your phone: you should still recognize the subject and understand the main action. Check the downloaded file against YouTube’s current upload requirements as well.
Use two to four words when a headline helps explain the story. Let your video title provide the longer context instead of repeating it word for word. If the composition already communicates the challenge, leave the text field blank and let the character and scene do the work.
Use your avatar as a reference
Upload a clear JPG or PNG of your avatar, or a gameplay screenshot you can use. A clean image with a visible face and outfit gives the generator a stronger starting point than a crowded scene. Describe which details matter: the blue jacket, the hairstyle, a particular accessory or the room behind the character.
A reference guides the result, but it does not guarantee an exact copy. Inspect character details, fingers, props and lettering before downloading. If the first version misses the point, change one clear instruction for your next generation. For example, ask for a closer crop around the avatar instead of adding several new characters and effects at once.
Thumbrix is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Roblox or YouTube. Use your own footage and references you have permission to use. For videos outside Roblox, the main AI thumbnail generator uses the same account and creator credits.
For the current upload workflow, see YouTube’s official thumbnail instructions, checked September 9, 2026.
BEFORE YOU HIT GENERATE
Roblox Thumbnail Creator FAQ
Is the Roblox thumbnail creator free?
You can try one generation without signing up. A free account gives you three generations in total, including your guest generation. Free downloads include a small watermark. Your allowance is shared across Thumbrix, so switching between this page and the main generator does not reset it.
Can I use my Roblox avatar or a gameplay screenshot?
Yes. Upload one JPG or PNG under 5 MB, then describe how the character or scene should appear. Use a clear image where your avatar is easy to see. AI can change small details, so check the outfit, face and accessories in the result.
Which thumbnail size should I choose for a Roblox YouTube video?
Start with 16:9 for a regular YouTube video. Thumbrix offers a free 1080p export, plus paid 2K and 4K generation options. The 1080p export is resized to fit 1920 × 1080; native image detail can vary. Select the resolution before generating.
Can I make a cover for a Roblox Short?
Yes. Choose 9:16 for a vertical cover. YouTube currently supports uploading a custom Shorts thumbnail through YouTube Studio on a computer with a verified account. The free portrait export is 1080 × 1920; you can also choose paid 2K or 4K generation.
Will this make a Roblox game icon?
This page is designed for YouTube video covers. Roblox experience icons and game discovery thumbnails have a separate purpose and upload workflow. The current generator offers landscape and portrait compositions, rather than a square game-icon template.
Can I make thumbnails for Brookhaven or Adopt Me videos?
Yes. Describe the scene from your video and add your own screenshot if it helps: a secret room in Brookhaven, a pet trade in Adopt Me or a difficult obby jump. The examples are original AI illustrations, not official artwork or exact recreations of those games.
How long does a thumbnail take, and can I leave the page?
Allow about two minutes; complex requests and provider demand can take longer. Your submitted task is saved, so you can return to check it. An active generation is shared across the main and Roblox generators, which prevents starting a second job accidentally.
Are my generated thumbnails added to this gallery?
No. This gallery contains examples made by Thumbrix. Your generated images are not automatically published here. Saved results and downloads remain associated with your guest session or account.
